In the early morning of Saturday, 06 October, a major catastrophic earthquake measuring 7.6 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred in a region bordering Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. It was the strongest earthquake that Pakistan has ever experienced. It was centred in forested mountains of Pakistani Kashmir and violently jolted and flattened large parts of the north, as well as part of neighboring Afghanistan and India. The death toll has been reported to be in the region of as high as 50,000 with double the number injured and millions more displaced.
         
TekMarkers are saddened that this unexpected and unwanted tragedy has to strike causing yet another unaccountable sufferings to the unfortunate. All TekMarkers stand in solidarity in our sympathy and empathy with the grieving victims and their families. As usual,TekMarkers voluntarily stepped forward in times of dire needs to lend their moral support and generously contributed to help in the international humanitarian effort to bring some relief and to alleviate the emotional, psychological and physical sufferings of the victims and their families in their very difficult time, cold weather and harsh living conditions.
         
A check under TekMark Holdings Sdn Bhd made payable to the "President's (of Pakistan) Relief Fund for Earthquake Victims – 2005" was handed over personally to His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Pakistan, Major Gen. (Rtd.) Talat Munir on Friday 29 October 2005 at 12.30pm in a simple check presentation ceremony in the office of the High Commissioner at the High Commission of Pakistan in Malaysia.
