Visit To Ampang Old Folks' Home 2006
On Wednesday 25 January 2006, around twenty TekMarkers took time off from their busy work schedule to pay a half day visit to the elderly folks in the Ampang Old Folks' Home which is located in a refreshing scenic setting in Ampang New Village. It started off from a wooden long house but is now a three story building with proper facilities and is currently housing about 60 elderly folks. The Home houses elderly folks of both genders. We were told that for elderly folks to be accepted into the Home they must be above 60 years of age, do not have any children and/or own family. The residents of the Home were allowed much freedom to move in and out of the Home, of course, with prior permission. Relatives of some elderly folks visited and also take them out for occasions like Chinese New Year, etc.

The visit is actually in line with the commitment to one of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) in making a positive difference towards community well-being. The visit is encouraged and fully supported by our Managing Director, Ralph Khor. It is intended to share and spread the joy and festive mood of the coming Chinese New Year (of the Fire Dog) with the less fortunate in our society. During the visit, TekMarkers distributed redpackets, mandarin oranges and some consumables and staff contributions on behalf of the TekMark Group of companies to the residents of the Old Folks' Home.
